Weekend Sewing
Posted by Elizabeth on February 23rd, 2010This past weekend I got back to doing something I haven’t done in years and it felt good.
The original plan was to drive to San Antonio on Saturday for an engagement session with one of our clients but we rescheduled because of the weird weather that day. So without a shoot we had a free Saturday before us with not a single plan. Wow. Trying to remember the last time that happened.

We lazed around for most of the morning, watched Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (waste of time) and then at the encouragement of my hubby got to work on a pattern from Christine Haynes book. I have a few lined up to do from her book but I tackled this one first because the shape and style of the jacket intrigued me. I wanted one!
The material I used was some I have had laying around for a long while. I love the color of it. Once I got into working on the pattern I realized there was a bit of stretch in it that made making and applying the bias tape a bit difficult. The book says a light or medium weight fabric works best for this pattern which I can see. It needs a stiffer material for a crisper look.

I’ll definitely be making another of these and probably in a small instead of a medium. It’ll make a great shooting jacket. Comfortable, easy to move in and looks cute! Oh, excuse some of the bad photos in this post. I was too lazy to pull out the ‘big’ camera and get really good shots.

Bad pics! Ha! They are all great! I think you should teach me how to sew!!
